“The death of a child by suicide is perhaps the most heart-wrenching tragedy a couple can endure. It violates the natural order. Such a tragedy befell Dan Fuss, the senior portfolio manager of the Loomis Sayles Bond Fund, and his wife RoseMary, on Nov. 3, 2006. Their 17-year-old son Tommy was found in his car, dead from carbon-monoxide poisoning. Notes left behind indicated that the teenager, under treatment for depression, had taken his own life in a moment of despair. This tragedy ‘divided my life into the before and after,’ wrote RoseMary in a tribute to Tommy five years later.” – Jack Willoughby, Barron’s
